Lexapro is used for treating depression or generalized anxiety disorder. Lexapro (Escitalopram) may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Lexapro is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Lexapro (Escitalopram) works by restoring the balance of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain, which helps to improve certain mood problems.

Do not use Lexapro if you're allergic to any ingredient in Lexapro, if you're taking Citalopram, if you're taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), taking a Fenfluramine derivative (eg, Dexfenfluramine), an H1 antagonist (eg, Astemizole, Terfenadine), Nefazodone, Pimozide, or Sibutramine
Please, contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Some medical conditions may interact with Lexapro (Escitalopram). Tell your doctor or health care provider if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding, if you're taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement, if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances.

Please, ask your health care provider if Lexapro may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

Use Lexapro as directed by your doctor and check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
Lexapro (Escitalopram) is sold with a Medication Guide. Read it carefully and read it every time when you are taking Lexapro.

Take Lexapro by mouth during or without food. If you adopts Lexapro at the same time, you'll not forget to take it. Continue to take Lexapro, even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
Do not suddenly stop using Lexapro, without coordinating this with your doctor. Side effects may occur.
Please be careful when you start Lexapro and every time there is a change in dose. If you miss a dose of Lexapro, take it as soon as possible. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Read the warning and interactions with other drugs carefully.
